Saint Hermione was the daughter of St. Philip the Deacon and is called a prophetess in the Acts of the Apostles. (Acts 21:8-9). She established the first hospital / hospice that treated the whole person in body and soul, provided housing for the poor and is known as the “Great Healer.” During Hadrian’s rule she was tortured and martyred in Ephesus because she would not renounce the faith.
