Saint Vincent Ferrer was a Spanish Dominican during the Great Schism of the Church. He was a brilliant theologian and preacher, who preached throughout Europe. Because of his fiery sermons, with accompanied miracles, he is called the “Angel of Judgement” and “Flaming torch of chastity”. This is why he is depicted with wings and a flame over his head. He “built up” and strengthened the church thru missionary work, in his teaching as confessor and adviser. St. Vincent lived to see the end of the Great Schism.
