Blessed Mary of the Conception (Adele de Batz de Trenquelleon) cofounded the Marianist Sisters (the Daughters of Mary Immaculate) with St. William Joseph Chaminade. She grew up during the French Revolution, fleeing various countries and returning to France in 1801. There, she established a “little society” inspired by the Carmelite rule of life, which became the Marianist Sisters. The Marianist Sisters visit the sick and poor and catechize them. She died at 38 of tuberculosis.
