Mother Angelica (Poor Clare of Perpetual Adoration) was an American Franciscan nun who founded EWTN Television, WEWN Radio, the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word, Our Lady of Angels Monastery and The Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament. Born in Canton, OH, she had a difficult childhood and battled debilitating health issues throughout her life.
