Archbishop Sheen was a master communicator, who proclaimed the Catholic faith through the radio (the Catholic Hour; 1930-1950) and television (Life is Worth Living; 1951-1962). He preached with wisdom, humor and tremendous knowledge of theology, world religions, and Christian denominations. Monsignor Sheen received two Emmy awards for Most Outstanding T.V. Personality. In 1950, he became the National Director of the Society of the Propagation of the Faith. Between 1962 to 1965, he attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council, working closely with Fr. Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI). From 1966 to 1969 he was the Bishop of Rochester, N.Y. Throughout his whole priesthood, he promoted and practiced a holy hour before the Blessed Sacrament.
