Saint Edwin of Northumbria was a powerful Anglo-Saxon English king who converted to Christianity through the influence of Saint Paulinus and his Christian wife, Saint Æthelburh, culminating in his baptism in 627 and a reign of relative peace before his death in 633. His reign brought peace and order to Northumbria, and he became one of the first great Christian rulers in England, marking a pivotal moment in England's conversion to Christianity. Edwin was martyred in battle against pagan invaders and venerated as a saint for spreading the faith and leading his people to Christ.
