James,  son of Zebedee, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus and brother of John the Apostle. They were called the “Sons of Thunder” by Jesus. He is called James the Greater to distinguish him from James, son of Alphaeus, who is also known as James the Less. He was the first apostle martyred, and his relics are in the Cathedral in Santiago, Spain, where thousands of people pilgrimage daily.
