Upon hearing of this at age ten, Julian left home to avoid the curse, eventually settling in Galicia and marrying. Twenty years later, his parents went in search of their son. During their journey, they met Julian's wife, who, unaware of their identity, offered them shelter while Julian was out hunting. She allowed them to rest in Julian's own bed. When Julian returned and found two people asleep in his bed, he mistakenly believed his wife was with a lover and killed them both. Upon discovering his tragic error, he dedicated the remainder of his life to charitable works. He went to Rome seeking redemption, and built several hospitals and houses of reparation serving the poor.
