Blessed Sr. Maria Pierina de Micheli, a holy nun born near Milan in Italy, had visions of Jesus and Mary asking her to spread devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus in reparation for the insults Jesus suffered in his passion and offenses and sacrileges to the Blessed Sacrament. In 1938 a scapular was made and in 1940, a medal was made with the face of Jesus (Shroud of Turin image) on one side and the Eucharist on the other. Jesus requested that His Holy Face be honored each Tuesday, especially on Shrove Tuesday. Sister Maria died a holy death surrounded by her religious sisters.
