Saint Cyprian was an educated and a famous orator who converted to Christianity as an adult. In 249 he became Bishop of Carthage and is considered an early “Father of the Church”. He was instrumental in the Church’s understanding of the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance and the primacy of the Pope, (As stated in his writing “The Unity of the Catholic Church”). Cyprian was a mixture of kindness, courage, vigor, and steadfastness. He died a martyr’s death for preaching the Faith.
