Saint Emilina (Emeline) of Boulancourt, born in 12th-century France, was a devout soul who sought to do God's will. Although she was led to the Cistercian Abbey of Boulancourt at Longeville, she did not enter the community. Instead, she lived a solitary life nearby, following the Cistercian rule as closely as possible. Known for her deep prayer life, extreme fasts, and mortifications, Emilina went barefoot year-round. Her prophetic gifts and spiritual guidance attracted many, as she accurately predicted future events. Because she neither married nor professed religious vows, Blessed Emilina is recognized as the patron saint of single lay women. She died of natural causes.
