Saint Francis Borgia was born into a noble family in Spain. He married Eleanor de Castro and they had 8 children. In 1546, his wife died and after settling his estates and children, he entered the Jesuit order. Tested by his Superior because of his nobility, he did menial tasks humbly and without complaint. He was a great preacher and administrator, appointed by St. Ignatius as Superior of the order. He established many colleges throughout Europe, including the Gregorian University in Rome and sent missionaries around the world. He is considered the second founder of the Jesuit order.
